The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo), owner and operator of the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) is optimistic of completing maintenance on its pipeline ahead of scheduled.
The maintenance , which includes an offshore pipeline cleaning and inspection exercise known as pigging, began on 5 February and is originally scheduled to end on 2 March.

Addressing the media after a tour of the facility in Tema on Thursday (20 February), Ing. Benoni Owusu Ayeh, Operations and Maintenance Superintendent for Western Operations said 70% of the work has so far been completed.
“Looking at the travel distance and what we communicated, we believe that we should be able to complete this exercise before 2 March. We’re within schedule and we believe that until something happens… but based on what we’ve seen we’re making progress,’ he said.
According to him, gas supply to Tema is likely to resume on 2 March after completion of the pigging and subsequently to Lome and Cotonou.
“We hope to resume supply to Tema, and also Lomé. We’ll still have to carry out some activities to the Cotonou lateral. Because from the Tema job, the vessel will move to Cotonou. Cotonou we’re doing an inspection, we run several pigs, about six of them.’’
